Before beginning any big project teachers always encourage you to make samples, as a younger student I did not always have the patience, often just too excited to start. For the past three weeks though I have been spending endless hours in the dye lab mixing up colors to perfect the color palette for my interior textile collection. Color is especially important this semester since all the colors are drawn from my inspiration (my trip to Cuba last summer) and are what will make a strong cohesive collection. This semester I am creating a line of textiles for interior spaces that will be viewed as a collection of yardage, I am dyeing all my warps and creating a custom color palette inspired by the colors of Cuba. Here's a peak inside my sketchbook of what I've been up to the last few weeks.
